Opting for natural remedies is a very good option. It is important to avoid smoking as well, not only in preventing heartburn but also from preventing other serious health complications.

Ive been taking prilosec over the counter for several years for acid reflux, my doctor told me about five years ago that I will have to take this for the rest of my life , this was after he did a endoscopy and found my esophogas irritated, so I just wanted to know a natural alternative. also I like spicy food but it all started just with eating a litte ketchup on my burgers at a young age I am now 42 years old and would like to know the long term side effects that Im going to have unless I already have the side effects from taking the prevacid.

ACID REFLUS GONE! 1/8th teaspoon of baking soda mixed with 1/4 cup of water provides INSTANT relief! Instead of waiting 12 hours before you take another one of the prescribed drugs, you can eat what you want at any time and if you experience any reflux with this home remedy of baking soda! My Mother had heartburn for most of her life. This was her remedy, and for a $.50 cent box of natural baking soda, it is mine today. Baking soda also relieves gas bloating...clean your coffee pot with it...keep it in the refrigerator and freezer to absorb odors...brush your teeth with it...endless uses!

What would you recommend for LPRD reflux disease? I am currently on a veggie diet, no alcohol, chocolate, or caffeine and staying away from as much acid as possible. I also take two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar daily. After three months, I'm still experiencing a red sore throat and gurgling stomach at bed time. If I do eat anything that might be acidic I will take Prelief before eating. I carry Blue Medicare. Do you honor this insurance?
